Q: Was there a distinct moment you knew you wanted to be a teacher?
Senior year of college when I was figuring out what to do. My mom was a teacher and she recommended that I apply for the NYC teaching fellow program…I applied and got accepted and here I am today.
Q: Were you always a history teacher?
I’ve mostly taught history, I’ve taught ELA and now computer science this year.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school?
History.
Q: Is that why you’re a history teacher?
I’m a history teacher because I was pretty good at history in high school.
Q:Where did you go to college?
Endicott College.
Q: If you weren’t a teacher what would you be and why?
I don’t know what I would be if I wasn’t a teacher.
Q: How did you start working at KAPPA?
I applied and got an offer.
Q: After seeing many teachers leave KAPPA, what has made you decide to stay?
I enjoy working with the kids at KAPPA and a lot of my colleagues at KAPPA.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of being a teacher?
When a student who is struggling with something finally clicks with what they’re working on and seeing them succeed.
Q: What is one pro and one con of being a teacher?
Everyday is different, that’d be mostly a pro. A con would be you work a lot outside of school hours.
